1.) Why the AKC?
The American Kennel Club is the oldest and most prestigious breed registry in the US. The American Kennel Club promotes a specific standard for each breed it recognizes based on the standard set by each breed club. The official breed club for the Poodle is the Poodle Club of America. The AKC has strict guidelines to ensure the quality of these recognized breeds. There are many rules and regulations which breeders are required to follow. Every AKC registered dog has a pedigree that can be traced back. Some other pet registries have what is called voluntary compliance and they do not require DNA certification or proof of the dog’s ancestry. This means that dogs of unknown pedigree are often registered without investigation. It is my opinion that while, there may be well intended breeders out there selling puppies with these registrations, sadly for them, the lack of accountability by these pet registries certainly opens the door for abuses. To be fair, abuses can happen no matter what registry. So choose wisely and be informed.

2.) What does your kennel name "Chamonix" mean? Chamonix or (sham-o-knee) is French for "one of nature's great beauties." That is exactly what you can expect to enjoy from Chamonix Toy poodles. I breed to achieve the "entire package" of a truly beautiful Poodle both inside and out.

3.) Do you participate in any activities with your Poodles? Yes. My poodles and I have tons of fun participating in many AKC events and other activities such as: Krewe of Barkus, Mardi Paws, Woofstock, and AKC obedience, agility and conformation.

4.) Which variety (size) of Poodle do you breed for?
Poodles come in 3 sizes. The Standard, Minature and Toy. I breed for the Toys. Click Here to learn more about Toy Poodles!

5.) Do you sell your puppies with a contract?
Yes. You will be required to sign a puppy agreement. Please click Here to view the agreement.

6.) What kind of registration do you provide with a puppy? All pet quality puppies are sold with AKC limited registration papers.

7.) What does "Pet quality" vs. "Show quality" mean? All this means is that in our best estimate a particular puppy may have a better chance to become a conformation Champion than another littermate. If you "just want a pet," than a pet qaulity  puppy will be fine for you. However, if you wish to be involved in the conformation ring than you must purchase a show qaulity puppy. I will have show qaulity puppies available on occasion to serious show homes only.

8.) Do I have to fill out a Puppy Application? Yes. There are no exceptions to this, and I reserve the right to place a puppy in the home of my choice. Poodles are not for everyone and I will never sell a puppy to a casual buyer.

9.) Do you guarantee your puppies? Yes. Please click Here to view my guarantee.

10.) What age can the puppies go to there new home? The puppy will be allowed to go home at 20 weeks.

11.) Can we name the puppy anything we want? Yes. Please note my kennel name "Chamonix" must be somewhere in the AKC registered name.

12.) What do your puppies come with? Your new puppy will come to you pre-spoiled and well socialized. He/she will be fully groomed, potty trained, basic obedience trained, AKC registered, micro chipped and fully vaccinated by a veterinarian. All puppies sold as pets come to you already spay/neutered. You will receive a starter kit which includes: AKC papers, your puppies laminated pedigree, all vet records, microchip information, helpful "how to" puppy information, photos of your puppy and parents, a bag of food, a custom baby blanket, a crate and a favorite toy.

13.) You do not have puppies right now. Do you know someone who does? I am always willing to help a potential buyer find the perfect puppy. If you do not see what you are looking for, contact me and I will be happy to point you in the right direction or to place you on my waiting list. I usually know other breeders who have puppies available. Just remember, PATIENCE PAYS! Many excellent breeders have no more than one litter a year, and usually keep one or more puppies for themselves to show. Choosing a Poodle from such a breeder is to buy from an artisan.

14.) How do I purchase a puppy? Click

15.) What do you feed your dogs? I feed the Royal Canin Toy Poodle formula.

16.) How much are your puppies? Our prices are based on what we put into our breeding program and we spare no expense when it comes to producing top qaulity Poodles. My top concern is for the puppy to find a loving home! If you are approved for one of my puppies I will talk further with you regarding the price of the puppy. NOTE: Shipping is buyer's expense.

17.) Do you perform health screening?
Yes. Click Here to learn about my health screening.

18.) What state are you located in? Do you provide shipping?
We are located in Hammond, Louisiana. Yes, we provide shipping.  However, I always prefer to meet the new owner face-to-face and I am more likely to choose new owners that are willing to pick up the puppy! Click Here to learn more about shipping.

19.) What colors do you breed for? I breed mostly for white, however other colors may be available on occasion.

20.) Do you breed "tea-cup" Poodles? NO. There is no such thing as a “pocket” or “tea-cup” Poodle. These are marketing terms used to describe an undersized Toy Poodle that in most cases are unhealthy runts. The AKC does not recognize these marketing terms and these puppies will be registered as Toys regardless. It’s important to note that the same genes that contribute to size also control the size of vital organs! Shorter life spans and other major health problems such as: open fontanel, heart murmur, epilepsy, diabetes, hypoglycemia, fragile or underdeveloped bones, enlarged heart, liver shunt etc...
are inevitable when you go to small. Reputable breeders stick with what works. Adults 3-5 pounds are healthy and preferred in the show ring, so that is what we breed for. For more information view the following links:

21.) Do you breed mixes also know as "designer" dogs? NO. I will never mix my beloved Poodles with another breed. So much care and effort is taken to produce the perfect Poodle and I wish to preserve the breed as is. "A prospective puppy owner considering any breed mixed with a Poodle as an improvement on the real thing should consider the information provided in the articles below and then contact their local shelter if still interested in obtaining a cross breed." - PCA

22.) Do you sell other breeds besides Poodles? No. I only focus on the Poodle and intend to do so for the rest of my life. This breed holds a special place in my heart that no other breed could fill.
